Getting Started as a Driving Instructor on Carank
A step-by-step guide for instructors: setting up your account, verifying details, creating your listing to manage enquiries.
This guide walks you through everything you need to do to start teaching on Carank — from signing up to engaging with students.
Step 1: Create your instructor account
When you sign up, make sure your details are accurate because they’re used for verification:
- Your full name as listed on the Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) list on the DVLA website
- Your email address
- Your phone number listed on the Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) list on the DVLA website as your contact number
- Your profile details (such as gender and age range)
Step 2: Verify your contact details
Before you can take enquiries reliably, Carank needs to know we can reach you:
- Email verification: confirm you can receive important updates.
- Phone verification: used for time-sensitive notifications.
If your email or phone number isn’t verified, your instructor listing may not be shown publicly until it’s completed.
Step 3: Create your instructor listing (your public profile)
Your listing is what students see when searching. You’ll typically be asked for:
- Your teaching area (where you cover)
- Your hourly price
- Your lesson availability (working hours) and any exceptions (days/times you’re not available - if you don't want to make your availability public, you can leave this blank)
- Your vehicle details
- A profile photo (optional, but recommended)
Pricing rules
- Your hourly lesson price must be within Carank’s limits (there is a cap to keep lessons affordable - £60).
Availability (working hours + exceptions)
You’ll set:
- Working hours: your usual weekly schedule (e.g., “Mon–Fri 9:00am–6:00pm”).
- Exceptions: specific time ranges you’re unavailable (e.g., holidays, appointments).
Vehicles
You’ll add one or more vehicles with:
- Transmission/type (e.g., Manual, Automatic, Electric)
- Registration / license plate number
Your number plate is formatted consistently to avoid duplicates.
Instructor credentials (ADI / PDI)
To keep the platform safe, Carank may ask for:
- Your instructor type (ADI or PDI)
Deals (optional)
You may be able to offer a limited-time deal for new students (for example, a discount on the first few hours).
- If a student is eligible, .
Step 4: Complete identity verification
Carank requires that your profile is available on the approved driving instructors list on the dvla website. We'll ensure your details are there before approving your account.
